Advice from someone who has had previous GD

Hello, looking for some advice please on someone who may know processes better than me. In my previous pregnancy I was diagnosed with GD at around 28/29 weeks. In this pregnancy I should have been booked in for a test when I had my first midwives appointment but wasn't, so I ended up testing around 21 weeks and it showed that I didn't have GD at that point. I'm now 29 weeks and haven't been tested again, I was my midwife last week and I asked about being tested again and she said haven't you booked in to which I was like er no noone has mentioned it. She's now booked me in but the earliest she could book me was for 33 weeks. Is this OK? I'm wondering if I should be pushing for a closer appointment (but she made it sound like I wasn't possible) I am trying (sort of) to stick to a GD diet now regardless, but do feel like they've been a bit crap with this, or is this normal? Hope that all makes sense!

Honestly the faff about i had with mine was ridiculousonethey didn't book an early test so I was self testing with the moniter at home and got quite a few highs so got the midwife to refer me for a test at 16 weeks. I passed but it was supposed to be repeated at 26 weeks. No one ever booked it 🙄then my midwife went on holiday and the diabetes centre said I couldn't have a test without her referring me in. So I called community midwives who were less than helpful saying I could have the test up to 34 weeks ( yes this is for people not previously diagnosed, and for things like large abdomen on scan etc) and to wait for my midwife to return , but i already had the consultant appointment booked for 27 weeks to discuss the test results!! They wouldn't listen, so i tried asking my GP to get the " cover " midwife to refer me. They refused. I rang diabetes centre back and they put me through to antenatal day care centre when I basically cried down the phone explaining it all and begging for someone to please

Book me in. In the end the lovely lady on the phone booked it there and then , and I had it done at 26 weeks exactly. So in short, you can have it done up to 34 weeks, its supposed to be done earlier and I guess they have to just book you where they have space for you? But the whole system seems completely useless and I'm actually complaining to the NHS about my care during this pregnancy!!

Gosh it really sounds as though there's no proper process around it and it's a lot of self advocating!! I think I'll call and try and push for an earlier test, it seems like they are cutting it really fine....

With my first i wasn’t tested until 32 weeks and that was only because I had glucose in urine at every appointment and my bump was measuring a massive 15weeks ahead! I wouldn’t worry too much if you haven’t been having glucose in urine and you’re eating relatively healthy. I had it with baby 1 but not 2 or 3.. I do have it again this time though xx
