Can we all agree to raise sons this generation that don't tell their girlfriend/wife to "stop crying" immediately whenever someone cries.

Probably the biggest ick in the world for me when a guy immediately goes "don't cry" or "stop crying" when someone gets emotional.

Show your support

I think it depends on the situation and the reason she is crying

Men are intrinsically problem solvers. They can want you to stop crying while still caring. Maybe teach them to ask how they can support instead?

@Sol in what situation is it okay to tell someone to stop crying? Can't think of one.

@Monica you can do lots of unhelpful things while "still caring" that doesn't make it right or emotionally intelligent.

When there is no reason or when she is just being overly dramatic and always resorts to crying instead of managing her emotions differently. Just because he tell you to stop crying doesn't mean it's a bad thing or that God forbid he tries to control you lol.

@Sol There's no such thing as crying for no reason. Everyone's emotions are valid in that moment they feel upset. To tell someone to stop crying is invalidating their experience and telling them what they're feeling isn't okay and to betray what their body is telling them. I see you're pregnant without kids. I really hope you don't have this mindset with your children. The only thing you should do when someone cries is make space for them and let them know it's okay to move through whatever they're feeling without judgment.
