Birth control effectiveness

My little one is 9 weeks old and I recently went on birth control about five days ago, I have never been on birth control before. Me and my husband did the deed yesterday and just wondered how effective birth control actually is in the first week. No judgements just advice please

I was told when I went on the pill that you still have to use condoms or something as it’s not effective straight away

It’s not effective in the first week as it has to properly get into your system x

You need to use condoms for the first week as it’s not effective during the first week x

It totally depends on the method and where you are in your cycle and taking both into consideration. How long your specific method takes to be effective should really have been discussed at your appointment etc as really, they are all different.

You have to still use condoms the pill won't be efficient in the first week.

Completely depends on the type of birth control you’re on. When I had the implant they said that was effective immediately, whereas the pill takes a week to start working. I’m not sure about other methods, if you’re concerned about getting pregnant again maybe get the morning after pill? That can be taken for up to a few days afterwards! Xx
