My boy eats porridge mixed with banana for breakfast (real slow porridge), then I always do a combo one one meat/fish, one carbs (pasta, rice, couscous, potatoes, frikke or bulgur), then two types of veg (if I cook nothing, I always just have fresh baby cucumber and sweet pepper). He eats a sweet treat (lollipop, chocolate digestive or children’s ice lolly) every day but that’s a tool to get him to do what I want. I feel fine about it because his main meals are well balanced. We never happy any crisps, fizzy drinks at home, so he doesn’t know what it is
At the moment for Breakfast my girls been asking for porridge(ready brek) every morning. She’ll have that with some strawberries, blueberries or banana. But she’ll eat most cereals too. Lunch can get tough. She doesn’t eat a lot. At the moment we have picky plates of wrap or crackers, cheese, ham, cucumber, fruit etc as she’s fussy with sandwiches/bread. Or a snack pizza. Dinners she prefers a slow cooker “hearty” meal like chicken/beef casserole, stew, chilli, spag bol, roast. She’s not a fan of anything breaded (although sometimes it would be easier 😅). But with the slow cooker, I shove loadsss of veggies in there and my girl doesn’t even notice. I give her a multivitamin every morning just to make sure she’s getting everything she needs xx
My little boy is good for breakfast and lunch will eat weetabix and fruit, sandwich most fillings. But dinner is where we struggle. It has to be breaded. He will eat a curry. No forms of pasta. So I try to buy like spinich an butternut squash croquettes and carrot waffles, sweet potato fries in the aim to get him to eat some veg!
