I need to vent!

I was diagnosed with PCOS 5 years ago, and in the scan 5 years ago I was told there there was lots of cysts in my ovaries and in my tubes and that it would be a very, very slim chance that I could ever have children. Obviously I have now had a baby. Since having my baby, all of my symptoms from before have come back. I went to the doctors, and they have told me that I don't have PCOS and because I fell pregnant, they've reversed. Which I know is not possible. Just had blood tests to check my testosterone levels and it's come back normal, but I had a scan yesterday,(internal and external), and was told in the room that I definitely have PCOS, theres not one mass but lots of little ones. I've now got to go back to the doctor's push for them to do something about my symptoms etc, but I'm worried they'll try and shrug me off and tell me that I don't have anything wrong with me. So for those that have PCOS, what works for you and does anyone have any management tips i can try?

Hiya! This is exactly what happened to me, I’m so sorry you’re going through something similar. I pushed to be seen by a gynaecologist at a hospital. They will try and shrug it off. I was told I’d likely have an insulin blockage that can actually be the cause of PCOS and why I find it impossible to lose weight. They did put me on a diabetic medication called Metformin. It’s not usually something they prescribe but it has shown effective results for PCOS symptoms. So far I’ve had no problems. I would maybe mention it to them and see if it’s a suitable option for M you

Please note PCOS and PCO are different, many people have both - dont ask me to explain as it confuses me 😂 The scans will show you have PCO and just coz you've had a baby doesn't mean it's gone, honestly some Drs. I ovulate every month and have both.

I had a 234 day cycle earlier this year and my symptoms were out of control. My Dr's were of no help whatsoever all they would say was healthy diet exercise and birth control if not ttc. I did a food diary and found certain things made it worse like white bread cheese and sugary/sweet foods so cut down on those. Did walking, yoga and weights instead of intense workouts. Also started the MyVitamins hormone balance supplement. A few months of this changed everything for me but I did try so many things that worked for others and didn't work for me. I guess it's finding what works for you and its trial and error

I agree with Emma's statement of finding what works for you. I actually find Google and reddit more helpful than my current primary, who just says my labs are fine. On my own, I've started taking the Olli women's multivitamin daily, fish oil, magnesium, and myo & D chiro inositol they are proven to help. Also, I've started intermittent fasting and exercising regularly. My Dr did try to push for birth control pills for me, but I have very bad mood swings and aggression with the hormonal stuff, so that is not an option. I have read that metformin does help, and many with this diagnosis are prescribed it.

@Shann thankyou, I almost want to tell them that I've done my research and tell them what I know is available to me, if that makes sense! x

@Sadie that's something to Google more into!! thankyou! x

@Emma thankyou, what were your symptoms? xx

@Jazz brilliant, thankyou. will I find the vitamins in tesco or asda? x

@Jas I would tell them! You have to be firm with them, it’s the only way they will listen to you. The amount of complaints I’ve had to made to be seen is ridiculous! I’d highly recommend researching into different medications, remedies and other treatments. Then present it to them and ask them to give you an option based on what you have found

@Shann thankyou xx

@Jas Irregular periods/no ovulation, weight gain, bloating, raised testosterone levels, facial hair growth.
