How are we keeping our May babies entertained?

We have 2-3 hour wake windows now and keeping this busy boy entertained is hard! We go for a walk in one of the windows which is lovely and play on his mat etc but I don’t know if I’m missing a trick here 🤣

We read books too, sing nursery rhymes or Disney songs (glad she doesn’t understand what good singing is yet 😂) and then when I’ve needed to get bits done during her wake windows I’ve been sitting her in her high chair wherever I am and giving her her spoons to play with so she gets used to them for weaning 😊

My LO is just as entertained on a foldable mat with a toy near her as she is on her play mat so I switch her around. On her foldable mat she rolls and drags herself about more x

Yes we have a playmat with dangly bits hanging from it and I also purchased lots of rattle and chewy toys. I place all the toys on the opposite side to him so he learns to make his way to the toys encouraging him to start crawling.

Lots of singing and chatting. We swap between rooms of the house. Mirror play. We have different toys in each room. As she's my second I can also pop her down in front of my toddler and she's fascinated for hours. Washing machines are another good stare game. We have the lovevery toys too, and they're good at keeping her mesmerised 🤣 Our wake window is 10 hours.

@Toni you're a genius, I never thought about just giving her spoons

I wish we had sleep windows, she’s not a fan of napping through the day lol. I alternate tummy time, with reading and playing with her dangly toys. I also try to get her to a baby class every other day but that’s not always practical.

I have the same issue - I find I’m out all day wandering around aimlessly because he is happiest in the carrier seeing the world. This is harder now it’s cold and wet. He doesn’t like tummy time and can’t sit up independently yet so gets very tired and frustrated when I have to hold him supported sitting all the time. I also find him using his core muscles more means he is sick a lot atm and it’s hard to know what to do to keep him entertained post feed so that it doesn’t all come straight back up! We do classes at least three times a week as well… really running out of ideas!

@anon haha don’t call me a genius just yet! She has puked a few times through shoving it too far into her mouth 😂😂

@Toni Yeah but that's without food rather than throwing up god knows whatever 😂😂 Giving her practise before she even gets to food. I don't often hand out praises like that 😂

@anon that is very true! Haha well I’m honoured 😂

My baby boy seems to be fussy/whingy/crying when he’s awake as of late :(( so I try play with him but he gets bored or fed up easily. Just wants to be held but sat up :(

I’ve got him so many toys but he doesn’t seem interested for long, gets whiny and have to change what I’m doing or hold him. He has to be in the right mood to play.

We’ve just got a jumperoo and it is honestly the best thing we have bought! My little girl absolutely loves it!
