How cautious are you guys during the waiting period?

I’m currently 5dpo, waiting to test for the first time and I’m wondering if you guys start cutting out alcohol, sushi, etc Would love to get all your experiences, advise or thoughts on this ❤️

If I am TTC I cut it all out before ovulation until I get a positive test or my period

Not cautious at all. I mean I don’t drink all the time so I’d maybe do that but even if you don’t know you were pregnant for a few weeks that alcohol won’t do much. But since you are for sure trying and what not you can cut that out. For sushi. You can still have it during pregnancy just nothing raw. But I wouldn’t cut it out or anything out besides like alcohol or smoking. Everything else I would still do

❤️❤️ thank youuu

So like days before I conceived my current pregnancy I was freaking out because they had me on antibiotics and ibuprofen...but I'd had to be on amoxicillin monthly since. I keep getting dental infections...

I didn’t change a thing until I saw the positive test result, nothing is going to affect the baby that early on anyway x

I spotted and figured I was out so I drank and then turned out it was early pregnancy spotting. I miscarried later on, and while we don’t know what happened, I’m not unconvinced drinking could have contributed, so I personally avoid it when TTC. But plenty of people will go on full fledged all inclusive drinking vacations before they realize they are pregnant and are fine. So it’s really an individual decision.

I would cut back on the alcohol as much as possible when TTC, but you don’t need to worry about what foods to cut out until you know you’re pregnant for sure.

Obviously our motherly instincts cause most of us to want to abstain from anything that would even have the slightest threat to our baby. Especially if you have been trying for ages. However, if you google ‘alcohol intake when pregnant’ and check out some evidence based literature from sources like Pubmed, you find that you relax a little. There’s actually 0 proven evidence to suggest that occasional to moderate drinking during pregnant has any impact on a fetus. In fact, studies show that, women who drank every day during pregnancy, only around 4% of fetus’s actually went on to get Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Now my point here isn’t to persuade women that drinking is fine. However the recommended rules around intake of various foods and drinks when pregnant can have adverse affects on women’s mental well-being down to guilt and it’s quite frankly often a load of exaggerated BS. Most mothers want to do the right thing and I’m sure that you too :) don’t panic and just judge accordingly.
