Not eating.

My toddler eats so little. Like nibbles on things here and there but never a full meal. I’m constantly making food for him to eat and nothing. It’s exhausting. Some things he will eat is shredded cheese, biscuits but only a couple bites, corn dog (maybe), chicken nuggets, ( maybe). He doesn’t seem to want to eat. Its a huge tantrum to try to get him to try foods. What should i do?

I try making it a game! Have you tried that?

Hey, I read a great book on how to have a healthy relationship with food, called Intuitive Eating (I think) it had a section for kids. The gist is to offer a variety of healthy whole foods at regular times and let your kids pick what they want from what you've offered. It is super simple and takes the pressure off of you. So for instance you would offer all the food groups you are normally offering, based off my plate, but you're not feeding/force feeding them, for meal times as well the focus should be off of what you put in your mouth (since this is a struggle already for you I think it may take some time for him to stop resisting or being anxious at meals) but like start talking about what you did that day or what you're going to do later. Have discussions as you eat together at the table. It is important that you're eating the same food like present the food at the table and you can serve from the main dishes or have them help serve, allowing them to be a part of the cooking helps!

Oh and I watched a couple super nanny episodes on youtube (I LOVE her for help with behavior with kids, it is amazing) so I found this one which is good, has some of the same strategies as the book actually. I will try and find another one I saw. https://youtu.be/SRTYmrbQFPw?si=SFnTh6CL0FQpdZSw
