Ready to feed milk with teats

Hi ladies, I have a question which may be obvious but I just want to be sure. I’ve bought the ready to feed milk bottles which come with already sterilised teats (starter pack 70ml), this is for my hospital stay. My question is it’s unlikely that the whole bottle would get finished so from the moment the baby drinks from that bottle/teat how long do I have to finish it before it becomes unsterile (if that makes sense?) I’ve read I would need to warm up the milk using boiling water before feeding, but if now half of the bottle is consumed, what do I do with the rest of it, can I reheat it using the same method? Or is it completely invalid now that the teat is no longer sterile? I hope I’m making sense but obvs don’t want to be giving the baby anything that won’t be safe/sterile. It’s not really clear on the packaging either. TIA!!

This is an interesting one because I took these into hospital when I had my little girl and we asked the midwives to warm it and she said there’s no need give it at room temperature- but besides that I just gave bubba a new bottle if not used in the hour x

As above, give at room temp and dispose of after 1 hour of baby starting to drink it

My midwife suggested asking the hospital for a sterilised bottle so you can decant some of the milk, then you can keep the rest of the open but untouched bottle for 24 hours in the fridge

Our hospital recommended (if planning to formula feed) taking a sterilised bottle and some pre-made formula rather than ready to feeds as baby is unlikely to finish it and would have to be thrown away after an hour whereas the ready made can be kept open in the fridge for up to 24 hours so better value for money

Those bottles are unsterile as soon as the feed stops or within one hr of opening you are likely to waste over half of each bottle. They are helpful though as not all hospitals have the ability to use the kettle method. For my first baby we were in for 4days and went through 3-4 boxes. My second we where in for 12 hrs and went through 4 of the 6 and used 1 more for the first overnight feed at home then switched to our prep machine (even though you waste more volume with our prep it’s less money down the drain). If you can use the kettle method or buy the big cartons and refrigerate it is certainly the least wasteful you just need to time it right we never could.

Thanks ladies! I thought it would be the case that more than half the bottle would prob go to waste if I wasn’t able to use the teat again after an hour. I just needed to be sure that was the case. Not all hospitals offer sterilised bottles I’ve been told but I’ll be sure to ask and just take some ready to feed bottles rather than the one with teats as it seems like such a waste!
