Any tips or tricks on how to manage migraines and a screaming newborn?

I'm prone to migraines that are caused by hormones and the postpartum period seems to be coming with a lot of them. I am on my third migraine in 2 weeks and I am struggling to keep sane when she's screaming

My doctor prescribed me a preventative medication and recommended using aspirin. I trigger from noise, lack of sleep and stress so I feel your pain 🙈 My doctor sent me this, might help you with some tips 😊 https://www.thewaltoncentre.nhs.uk/Downloads/Information%20for%20healthcare%20professionals/Migraine%20-%20A%20Comprehensive%20Guide.pdf

Are you breastfeeding? Staying hydrated is very important when dealing with migraines. If you’re breastfeeding, you’ll become dehydrated even quicker. There are migraine medications out there that you can talk to your doctor about. However, if you’re breastfeeding, it does limit them. When I get a migraine, I take aspirin & take a hot bath. If I’m on baby duty, then I take a warm bath with an ice pack on my neck and play with baby in the tub. Hope you feel better soon!

Taking the mini pill stops mine Could be down to stress though, try and take some time for yourself to have a bath, and make sure you’re eating x

Migraines are horrible …and they definitely do not mix well with babies! 😭 I use ear plugs and pop some headphones over the top too, not with any sound but just to help block out the noise. I also stay in bed with baby and don’t move too much, bf whilst laying on my side helps loads too because I dont have to sit up. Keep all your supplies next to the bed for days when they hit and if ice helps get a migraine ice hat from amazon to use for 20mins or use cool strips. If it gets worse definitely look into magnesium supplements - my neurologist recommended me it Also! Be careful with painkillers that have caffeine mixed in they increase your chances of medication induced headaches and keep painkillers to below 14x a month.

Put some ear plugs in… if you’re looking at your baby and trying to stop them from crying there’s no need to listen to them scream at full volume

I used to take migraines, I recommend magnesium supplement and adding himalayan salt to your diet and keep well hydrated. There has been a link between chronic dehydration and migraines, sometimes we drink a lot of water but it's not absorbed into our cells, the magnesium and celtic or himalayan salt will help with this. Not had a migraine since i started implementing and that's been over a year x
