Purple crying

Hello ladies, Has anyone else experienced a purple crying like at 18 weeks. My baby never had one like that before but yesterday around 2 pm she started going crazy she was inconsolable. I tried a bottle, I tried to hold her to sleep, rocking with a pacifier, change her nappy, checking if ear infection, checking temperature, checking her belly to see if she was gassy (we didn’t have colic issues so is not really something I thought about but checked just is case) and NOTHING seemed to work, after 2 hours of desperate crying she gave up and sleep exhausted. Teething is not as well, her gums are hard but she hasn’t any kind of inflammation, I bet she feel discomfort but not pain. I never ever experienced that before, she didn’t cry this way even when she had the jabs and judging from the marks she had after they must have been painful. She looked so in pain. Usually I’m always able to calm her down with cuddles but yesterday no way, she was red and holding her breath. It was so bad and when she finally fall asleep I had a big mental breakdown, I felt horrible being unable to soothe her. Has anyone else ever experienced something like that? Did you manage to find out what was the reason behind it?

We had it with our son when he was around 6 months old. It was pretty much the same as you described it, he was wailing and was inconsolable by me or his dad. He then also fell asleep because he was exhausted. It was all just because he had a cold.

Funny enough after that he never wanted his dummy anymore

@Tereza did you not realize he had a cold? Mine doesn’t look like she has but I’m asking because sometimes symptoms don’t really show up. Same as us, we feel a bit sick and day after we have a flu. She is fine today as well.

Sadly mason often did this. It was down to severe colic. I took him to the GP who sent us to the hospital. The hospital advised to start weaning as it is the only way to assist the pain and that he was such a large baby anyway. So from 3 and half months we had a tiny bit of baby rice in his formula which made it a little heavier to less air was going in with it, this made him bunged up so we moved onto purée. He hasn't been upset since and is soooo much happier. He used to have meltdowns like this every night. Since weaning nothing. The only thing that did help previously was striping him right down and starting a fresh. So bath and bed time cuddles in just the nappy with a blanket. He always got so hot with it. I hope your little one is happier soon. It is hard seeing them like it.

@Alanna oh bless you. It must have been so hard and heartbreaking. I’m so glad he is doing better and you found out what made him feel that way
