My stitches opened up, and I had to have them removed. Thankfully, it was only the skin level, though. I can't remember exactly how long, but it was at least 3 months until I was fully healed. I was still red and a bit sore down their until around 4 months. At my 6 to 8 week check, the doctor gave me sterile gauze and saline to clean it a couple of times a day. That really helped to speed things a long even though it was really painful to clean. I hope this helps! Hopefully yours will heal quicker than mine did though! I still have scar tissue, but it's certainly gone down a lot
Ouch, this happened to me a couple of days after my first and it took about 8 weeks to be able to sit comfortably (ish) on a dining chair. Try and keep off it as much as possible, lots of rest and do not push yourself too quickly as you will set yourself back in recovery.
Episiotomy stitches typically take about 4 to 6 weeks to heal, but this can vary from person to person. If you still have a 3-4 cm open wound at 4 weeks postpartum, it's important to keep an eye on it and maintain good hygiene.
