Potty training

My daughter is holding her pee & poop while potty training 😑 Before anyone says that she's not ready, she definitely is. She likes to pretend that she goes to the toilet and removes her clothes and wipes her bum and all that. She telsm when she does her 💩 or wee. When we are actually doing potty training, I let her run around with nappy/naked bum. Yesterday and today, she's been holding for hours, and even her belly got big. I was putting her down for her nap, so I put nappy on, and instantly, she let go🤷🏻‍♀️any advice/tips?

We stayed bottomless at home for like 7 days with only going in the garden with a dress on (August heatwave).,We are following the oh crap method. So stayed on block one for a week and we revert back when needed. The first day she was weeing 12 times a day then the next day she learnt to hold it. She can hold it for 2-5 hours+ if she really wants to. We didn’t put a nappy on, instead tried putting her feet in water, blowing bubbles on the potty, when that didn’t work we tried a shallow bath and just said oh you’re weeing. She still holds it whilst we are out and about and isn’t keen on the travel potty or cubicles. I saw a trick about poo withholding where people cut a hole in the nappy so gradually it got bigger each time they made the hole and eventually it went into a potty. However I am not sure how great the inside of a nappy is against the skin so not sure I would do it.

Thank you, Cara. Yes, she's been bottomless . Little boo can hold for over 3hrs 😳 I thought about feet in the water but only at the bath time. I'll try this next weekend. I only have time over the weekends to the potty training. Otherwise, during the week, I'm with our 17week old😬🤷🏻‍♀️

It’ll be far too confusing for her to only potty train on the weekends. It’s something you need to stick with and be consistent so I’d advise waiting until you have the time to commit to it with her, maybe then she’ll stop holding it and be a little more ready?

You need to commit, you can’t just train on weekends. That’s far too confusing. You say she’s showing signs, but as she’s holding, I’d say she’s not ready and maybe has a little fear about going? I’d hold off for a little while, take the pressure off x

I’d take a break for 2 weeks, go back to nappies and take the potty away completely. Then after the 2 weeks get rid of nappies completely. Being half in nappies and half out is a bit confusing, getting rid of nappies cold turkey can work really well if they are ready
