Baby always hungry

Ok I need some advice. My baby was premature (34 + 4 weeks) and weighed 2.06kg at birth. He is now 6 weeks and weighed 3kg about a week ago. Following the weight guidance on formula boxes, I give him 90ml of formula every time I give him a bottle and other times I nurse him or give expressed milk (again about 90ml). When I nurse him, he is looking for more and would have a whole formula feed on top. I know he is getting milk from the breast because he does it after expressed milk and also after formula! He literally has both breast and formula for nearly every feed (6-7 a day). Isn’t this too much? He also doesn’t poop every day, more like every 2-3 days and has been this way since birth. Doesn’t look uncomfortable as such but does squirm and strain quite a lot.

You could try increasing his number of ounces as he seems hungry. My health visitor advised me that if they are draining the bottle it's time to up the ounces sometimes a baby may want more or less but just follow their feeding cues.

My LO was the same, always hungry, and our HV suggested the same as Nicole, just offer more until they don't want anymore. He's 6 months and still a hungry boy 🤣

Baby is probably cluster feeding. Keep feeding on demand and 120ml when offering formula. Hopefully baby will gain weight. Do loads of bicycle legs and tummy massages for poos. My daughter was quite constipated baby and we have only now reached more regular pooing once we started weaning and I could offer water/food that helps with constipation. My baby was premature (35 + 4) and she hardly feeds and is quite a small baby - it’s the biggest source of pain in my life 😭

My baby is the exact same and was born at 34 weeks and 2 days! He’s now three weeks and only poos once every 2 days and squirms or sounds like a dinosaur grunting quite a lot. He is always hungry after nursing too and tends to want feeding every 2 and a half hours.

I exclusively pumped until my daughter was 11.5 months and she used to drain bottles and still want more. I used to just feed until she didn’t want anymore, sometimes she’d be happy with 5oz sometimes she’d drink 8oz, every 3 hours (until weaning and eating 3 meals a day) I’d defo recommend increasing the oz and see how that goes xx
