Food shopping

Any mamas shop at like 3-4 different grocery stores to strategize and save money? Like multiple pick up orders? My food budget is only about $600 a month for me, hubby and 4 yr old little one….how do you strategize to save money on food?

Yesh I mean we usually do an insta cart order and we do Costco and like Publix or Kroger. But I’d also just think about what you’re buying to try to save money. Less snacks and what not. We try to stick around 400 for a family of 4 so maybe try to meal plan and what not to be able to save even more on food

Same girl same. Price matching with coupons and all. Buying in bulk has saved me some coins.

It’s so hard to reduce the food budget with food prices but I’ve had some success making snacks and certain foods from scratch instead of buying. It’s significantly cheaper to make even if you buy organic..slightly more time consuming but it’s been worth it and my family prefers it. I make homemade, bread, yogurt, butter, apple sauce, quiche, all desserts, and most meals. It also helps to order beef from a farm and store in a freezer if you have it. I buy a 1/8-1/4 cow and the cost per pound is half what I get at the grocery store. Honestly just trying to figure out what the store is doing to get the food lol

@Jeannette yes I like those solutions but I won’t have time to make those things from scratch…but I did start buying my meat and dairy from international farmers market for higher quality meat although I would like to get it from a farm it’s even more expensive…I would love to get raw milk but I get Kalona milk instead

@Gabrielle oh wow how do you make $400 work? My 4yr old needs a lot of snacks because they don’t provide dinner at her daycare and I buy things like yogurt, bananas, strawberries, dates, walnuts , nut butters etc in addition to mini muffins and juice boxes…those are snacks but also can serve as a meal for breakfast

@Dee yea that’s my issue with Costco is the membership fee and then also knowing what are the best things to buy in bulk that we need…I also used a promo code for Sprouts if you have one of those

We’re trying haha. But thats our plan. We do lots of snacks too. But maybe stay away from juice boxes. Do water instead or get big things of juice and put it in a insulated cup or something because juice boxes can be a ton of money.

Also try to buy in bulk for snacks at like Costco or something

@Gabrielle yes that’s true juice boxes are expensive and I been trying to buy brands that don’t have added sugar and have real juice…I like Honest or Kroger simple brand…I’ll try to buy the big bottles next time

@Gabrielle ok ok yes I need to try that too…it might be time for me to renew my membership lol
