Name advice

We’ve been set on a name the whole pregnancy. It’s unique enough for us but not too out there. However we found out recently (or were perhaps reminded as had completely forgotten!) that my partner’s mum’s good friend has a child called this name. Her child refers to my partners mum as nanny and they’re quite close. Now we feel we can’t use the name and I’m heartbroken. (His mum has even said, no not that name, that’s too weird). I can’t get past it, as it has felt like their name for 32 weeks. We also now can’t think of any alternatives. What would you do?? 🙈

I’d keep the name if you’re truly set on it and feel that no other name fits your baby as well as the current name does! No one owns a specific name and there are billions of people in the world if no one could share the same name as another without it being “weird” then we would run out of names I’m sure 😂 It you and your partners baby don’t let others dictate what you call your child not even family.

Just keep the name. You can't not name your kid something you have your heart set on, because someone else is called it!

I vote keep it. I felt weird with our first because both me & best friend, due 3m apart, liked the same boys name but that was my best friend. I think whoever this is is far enough removed from you to not be an issue. Also this kinda thing is why we aren’t telling anyone what we’ve picked, far too many opinions and the only ones that matter are you & your other half x

Thanks all! Swaying me to keep it for sure. I just love it so much. I can’t imagine another name. We originally asked my partners mum her thoughts as I was worried about her / her friend thinking we’d copied. I don’t know why that bothers me so much 🙈 like you’ve all said, people share names in this world x

don't change it because of her, you'll only regret it if you don't vibe with the new name as much, i say keep it xx

Keep the name, my cousin has a daughter called my daughters name and it literally doesn’t matter at all 😂 it’s never been an issue once xx
