St Mary’s Manchester - process?

Hello, My partner and I are attending our consultation at St Mary’s next month and I was hoping somebody could help advise on their experience/what to expect next. We had our initial tests earlier this year, so we’re expecting to be told treatment recommendations/next steps, but I wondered what the timings are like from this point? We’re also hoping they will recommend we try clomid/letrozole before going through IVF, but I seem to get the impression they tend to go straight to the IVF option? Has anybody else had experience of this? I’ve also seen a lot of people saying they managed to get a private referral to care manchester, but we didn’t get a choice. Is this something we’re able to request? I get the impression care have better results so any positive st Mary’s stories would be much appreciated :) Thanks

We went through fertility treatment at St Mary’s three years ago for our first - despite it still under some Covid restrictions, I had IVF treatment (clomid wasn’t suitable for me) and our baby boy was born in September 2022. After our initial appointment in April May 2021, I started injections in September, had egg retrieval October and after our embryos were fertilised and frozen (I had OHSS so couldn’t do fresh cycle), embryo transfer in December 2021. We also had one embryo left and had that transferred in April (again at St Mary’s) this year - am due in December this year. The communication was good - but it’s better now they use the Salve app (first time round it was phone calls which was a little frustrating!) and there was much less of a wait than I anticipated. I know people who’ve used clomid with positive stories too. Everyone’s story is not the same, but we’re very lucky and I wanted to share a positive story! Good luck in your journey ❤️ feel free to message me.

@Helen Ah thank you so much for sharing your story, and congratulations on both your babies 🥰 Out of interest (and hope you don’t mind me asking), was there a reason there was 6 months between the appointment and starting the injections? Is it just additional tests they need to do etc? I’m interested to see what they will offer us in terms of ovulation induction or straight to IVF as haven’t heard that many stories of people who they’ve given clomid to etc

Inbox for more info. We went to st Mary’s.
