In Laws Crossing Boundaries

My mother in law is consistently not listening to me when I say how bad my anxiety is. My baby turns 4 months on the 25th and although he has pretty good head control it freaks me out. I even support my two year olds head when lying her down so she doesn’t bump it. Well I’ve told her numerous times make sure your supporting his neck and today she just lifted him up with absolute none in a sitting position. I’m fuming. He didn’t cry and he’s been perfectly fine all day. Not irritated or drowsy or anything and I know it’s very different than a newborn but like why would she go and do that.

Obviously she should listen to you and respect your anxieties and wishes, but it could just be her instinct and how she’s used to picking up babies of that age? Mine is the same age and I don’t always support her head as she can hold it up well herself. I’m sure she didn’t do it to purposely go against your preference (obviously if she did that’s a different story…)

That’s why we don’t allow anyone to hold the baby yet 😀 Until he can hold his head better - also freaks me out.

Sometimes in-laws think they know better because that’s how they raised their own children and they came out “ fine “ they believe all this modern ideologies are nonsense . My in-laws also don’t respect my boundaries 🫠

@Sam I definitely understand but my anxiety was awful because although he wasn’t necessarily hurt he didn’t have his head up all the way so it was dangling a bit and she was laughing. Idk maybe I’m just a nervous wreck but it freaks me out so much

@Sam And he’s pretty good at holding it up himself so I’m assuming it didn’t hurt him but it just felt so disrespectful to me because I’ve told her and talked to her about all my anxieties and asked if they could just support just so I don’t have a little panic attack haha

My baby head amazing head control at 4 months, I never supported her head at that age. She's almost 5 months now and I don't, she doesn't need it. I do think you're overreacting here ill be honest
