Loot bags at family Thanksgiving dinner?

Why are people trying to make this a thing for EVERY holiday?! Some of us are poor 😭😭😭

@Taline are you close to them? Can you tell them you like the idea but it’s not something you’re able to do this year? Hopefully they’ll realize it’s crazy to do every holiday every year, and if not you can talk to them about some kind of compromise

If they made loot bags already, then you don’t need to make them. 1 loot bag is already too many, more would be ridiculous. If anything, get some construction paper and help the kids make hand turkeys to decorate the table, and print some thanksgiving coloring pages.

@Kassidi I am close with them, and should add that I’m Canadian so thanksgiving dinner was today. SO the loot bags thing was sprung on me in the moment! And now I’m mentally preparing myself for Christmas loot bags lol

@Rebecca great point, maybe focusing on activities to keep them occupied is a better angle. It just all seems like too much.

@Taline that’s crazy! It would’ve been nice if they gave you a heads up 🙄 at least they didn’t ask you or make you feel obligated to make some though. Personally I still wouldn’t do a whole loot bag. I like the idea of doing activities instead, or getting some candy they can each have. I feel like getting a loot bag so often will make them expect it so it loses its value as a special treat. Especially if you’re doing them on top of Christmas presents!

Frankly each child should only go home with one loot bag so if they're doing it, it means you definitely don't have to ☺️

I hate stuff like this. Wasting more money to make more holidays more materialistic than they already are. I hate the fact that there are halloween baskets now too

i do this for every holiday for friends! for Christmas i wrapped mini presents for all their kids, some of us do it just because we like to give :)
