Tails? šŸ˜¬

The past week Iā€™ve seen two separate kids (maybe 7-11) walking around with tails with their mums in shopping centres/ parks. Is that the new norm? Because thatā€™s a bit strange right. I get you want your kid to have independence but wtf šŸ¤¢ I live in Australia btw.

Like Halloween costumes? Or something else

Tails are they wearing like backpacks or something for them not to run away? Or like animal tails

Pls tell me itā€™s bc itā€™s close to Halloween and children are not getting into the whole furry community.

@Gabrielle for 7-11 year olds i wouldnt think thatd be it. Tho i wish

Like for like a leash or furry tails?

I was volunteering at a farmers market this summer and we had two kids every week that came by with tails. Probably around 9-10yo. They told us they were furrions. But couldn't explain it much further. And that kids were mean to them at school.

Itā€™s a taxidermy/ cosplay / furry thing. Itā€™s not weird unless you arenā€™t involved in any of those things. People of all ages buy and wear them at all the convention shows.

@Kelsey theres a difference between confernece/shows and grocery stores

Lol are children not allowed to play dress up? We r talking animal tails right? Like a lion tail or mouse tail or something? Like completely innocent ā€œIā€™m gonna be a lion todayā€ type stuff?

My daughter was into that they are 12 years old. It was something they and their friends were into called Therions something like they had a spirit animal. Anyways I was fine with it, they told me that a lot of parents they knew were not okay with their kids doing that. I honestly donā€™t see anything wrong with it. Self expression and wearing what they want. For my daughter they stopped but I wouldnā€™t care if they continued. No one hurting anyone I donā€™t see why some parents are so upset.

Hahahaha who cares?? Are they hurting anyone??

Strange to care about something not hurting anyone. Kids being kids. Who cares

This is not new Iā€™m 31 and kids were rocking them when I was a kid.

Awe! Sounds like you got to see some good moms IRL! it really is the little things that can brighten up a child's day and as a mom, all we want are healthy, happy kids, right? Lets normalize allowing kids to be kids and rooting for eachotherā¤ļø HAPPY HALLOWEEN šŸ‘» šŸŽƒ

Is it weird? Theyā€™re likely just dressing upā€¦.? What do you find strange about this?

Iv seen four preteens with tails on while shopping in the past few months

They could either be dressing up early for Halloween or they identify as that animal

@Veronica my daughter and her friends call them selves therians they make masks and I crocheted my daughter a tail.

@Gabrielle animal tails.

@Trinity tbh I forgot it was even Halloween so it could be that but it was just so unsettling. Why are people allowing their children to get into a fetish.

Thatā€™s my thing. I think its fine for kids to dress up and play and have fun and use their imagination, but I think that thereā€™s a line that gets crossed when itā€™s brought out into public, especially when there are adults that fetishize and romanticize these kinds of things.

Not the kids fault at all or the parents itā€™s unfortunate that thereā€™s weird ppl in the world. But I also did some research and thereā€™s a large group of ppl who dress up as furries or therians simply for animal roll play and not sexual roll play so itā€™s such a weird gray area idk.

@Kelsey I mean weird as in even if my child was part of that, I wouldnā€™t allow them to go outside like that. Not only are they opening up to billing but also limiting their social connection.

@Victoria I have no doubt it was innocent but not ā€œIā€™m going to be a mouse and dress upā€ more like ā€œI love my little pony and Iā€™m going to wear this floor length multicolour tail everywhere I goā€. One kid was in the shop and was screaming at her mum ā€œyou canā€™t tell me what to do, my name is zephyr rawrā€ šŸ˜¬

@Trinity exactly, Iā€™m all for do what want in your own safe space but as soon as you bring that outside you have a million and one people with their different opinions and some of them are going to be sexualising your child. There is a huge community of sexualisation with the furries. When my child is being safe and at home I donā€™t mind as long as they enjoy what they do, I just donā€™t want grown adults thinking that itā€™s a great way to ā€œconnectā€ with my child.

Yeah I just find it really cringe like go ahead dress up whatever you want but not in public with a tail ā€¦ And also those things get sexualised especially by people in public you donā€™t know who would do that so Iā€™d rather my kid not do that in public and be at risk

People against their child being a child really wow me. People sexualize feet are you never going to let your child be barefoot? Or go to the beach/pool in a swim suit? I canā€™t control other people, but if wearing a tail makes my kid happy why would I get in the way of that. If itā€™s a hard no for you moms maybe ask yourself why.
