Pures

Any benefits of starting purées at 4 months? My son just turned 4 months and my family is telling me to start him on purées plus breast milk as a first time mom I’m scared honestly don’t know if I should wait.

He’s defo not ready it’s really not recommended to start before 6m unless advised my a medical professional to do otherwise. Do t let anybody pressure you into doing anything it’s your baby and your rules and you know what’s best! If baby can’t sit unsupported their not ready for it, I was only advised by my doctors and hv to start at 5m due to my little one having really bad reflux x

It’s not recommended for babies to start weaning onto food until 6 months

I started at four months and if I could go back and change one parenting choice I've made so far it would be that one. It is actually significantly better for their bodies to wait until six months. Their digestive system is just not ready for solids yet and honestly they're not really ready yet in the way of being capable of eating. I very highly recommend you hold firm on waiting until six months no matter what your family says. Even my pediatrician said it was okay to start at four months so I did but with more research I realize it was not what I should have done.

Our pediatrician has recommended starting at 4 months if we feel comfortable for both my son and now my daughter, but to wait till 6 months for “baby lead weaning”, I have been slowly starting purées, but just small amounts, did the same with my son and it worked out very well for us, I’m very confident on doing what you’re comfortable with, if you are hesitant then wait because there is really no rush

My sons pediatrician approved at 4 months. It’s not that serious! as long as baby is eating healthy purées. Some babies are ready at 4 months some are not. Depends on the genes 🤌🏾

I started both my kids at 4 months 1 new food each week or so and it went great both times, don’t listen to anyone but yourself. If you think your baby is ready then you can start. Every baby is different so no one should compare honestly

I completely understand you regarding your family. My family was the same, and where I came from, it’s totally normal for babies to start at 4 months. I was so judged, but I never let them pressure me to decide what was best for my son. I 100% waited until he was 6 months to start slowly. There’s no rush in getting babies to eat when until one food is for fun. For water, I am still boiling and cooling it down and will keep doing so until at least 12 months He’s now 10 and a half and a very healthy and content baby. Never got ill He eats very well, takes multivitamins daily And please, if you are breastfeeding, don’t take it seriously if someone tells you your milk is not enough to fill your baby. It definitely is and milk/ breast milk will be their primary source of nutrients until they complete 1 year

recommendation atm is 6 months no earlier than 4 months and follow babies cues. dont let anyone pressure you into something you dont feel comfortable in doing and if u feel like your bub isnt ready then hes not ready u know your baby best ! x

No need to start before unless been advised by doctor.
