Potty training

My three year old did great for the last three days with no diaper or underwear...today we put on underwear since we were going to have guests come over and he peed twice in the underwear and I feel defeated and losing hope.Any words of encouragement?

It takes more than 3 days with no undies/diapers to be potty trained, it takes months. One thing I did if we ever went anywhere or had people over was put a pull up over undies, that way she could still feel the wetness without making a mess. Then every so often I would check them and if they were wet we would talk about how we don’t like wet undies. Eventually we went to just undies It took about 2-3 months but it worked and after those 2-3 months she is now completely potty trained with no accidents!

We had a set back or two but it didn’t take us months. I did the three day potty training too. She had two or three accidents once I considered her “potty trained” but just correct them and reiterate to use the potty. Also if we had something going on like that she’d get excited and just forget to go. They’re still new to it so especially if I’m about to do something that’s going to take a minute I ask her to go or remind her when it’s been a while!

We did the 3 day potty training too because our son had to start day care and needed to be potty trained. We also had a few accidents but it’s been a long time since we had one. What helped us was to make time for regular breaks. If our son is having fun, he will not let us know or say he doesn’t need to go until it’s very late. So we take him to the potty every 2-3 hours or so when we remember and it helps. Also, we have him use the potty before we do anything big like going out, having guests etc. so we know he’s good for a few hours. When we travel or will be doing something like a theme park etc. and are unsure of the bathroom situation, we’ll throw a pull up over his underwear. He hates the wet underwear feeling and if he forgets to tell us, and starts to have an accident, it’s not a big mess. It also helps him realizes as soon as he starts peeing to stop and let us know he needs to go.
