We do framed photos of the kids each year. We buy a set of 6-8 frames for $20 on Amazon. Print out some photos and CVS. It’s a big hit!
You could a sweater with iron ons. So on the front iron on the letters for their grandparent name (Grandma, Nonnie, etc). Then on the sleeves by the wrist, iron on all the grandkids names!

Last year we made a snowman from a lollipop stick. We measured how tall our son was and cut it out of wool and wrapped it round the snowman as the scarf. With a note saying how long the wool was. They can then unravel it each year to see how tall he exactly was that year.
