PAP-A TW: discussing risks during pregnancy.

hi all, i’m 15 weeks today and want to know if anyone has been or is in the same situation as me. i found out 2 days ago that ive become a high risk pregnancy. i have low PAP-A. (please google if you don’t know) i’ve been told ive got increased chances for loss, pre term birth, low birth weight and high risk of developing pre-eclampsia. i’ve been told to take aspirin everyday which is fine. i’m just beyond worried. this is my first pregnancy that has stuck and i’m so distraught over finding this out. i know im being looked after as i now have growth scans every month until im due and appointments pretty much every fortnight. but i still can’t help but worry about my little baby. if anyone has gone through anything similar please please tell me. either help ease my mind or prepare me! i’m trying my best not to worry but this sweet baby means the world to me already. thank you xx

Hey, I’m 24 +2 weeks and was told after my 12 week scan tests that I have low Papp-a. I must attempt when I was first told I was very worried but after doing some research it calmed me. Low Papp-a is very common so taking aspirin is to help thin your blood so that it flows well through the placenta. That it’s you mentioned are all worst risk scenarios and none are a definite as a result of ha I g low Papp-a. If you haven’t already you’ll get appointment letters for extra growth scans from 28 weeks and they’ll be every month (which is a nice extra opportunity to see baby). When you go for your 20 week scan they’ll also use a Doppler to see how well your blood is flowing. You’ll also be under consultant care now which means after each growth scan you’ll also see a consultant as well who’ll talk through anything that the scan shows up. Feel free to message me if you wish x
