First time after baby was born

Last night my husband and I had sex for the first time since our son was born. Did anybody else feel like the only thing you could focus on was how weak your pelvic floor is? I throughly enjoyed the foreplay, but when it came time it didn't hurt, it just felt like when you strain to lift something heavy but in my perineum. I've never even noticed those muscles before during sex. It makes sense logically why it felt that way, but also really weird in the moment.

Have you done any pelvic floor therapy? I highly recommend it

Seconding pelvic floor therapy! I found a great place near me that takes my insurance. The intake appointment was super helpful-there’s so many things going on down there-tons of different muscles working together and used for different things. I didn’t realize how much your core and pelvic floor are connected. I had some pain going back to sex after birth and it turned out to be a problem with my pelvic floor overworking because my deep core muscles were really weak postpartum. How each persons body responds to birth is so different so it’s helpful to have someone give you exercises for your specific areas of weakness.

Absolutely look into pelvic floor therapy. There’s some exercises you can do at home, but I’m in PT for it and it makes a world of difference even in a short amount of time.

I can't do pelvic floor therapy unfortunately. I can't afford it out of pocket and there's literally only one person who accepts my insurance in my area and she's not accepting new clients. Everyone else is more than an hour and a half drive and I would have no one to watch my son for the 4+ hours it would take to do that.

Totally understandable! I would look up some exercises you can do at home. Most of the are core related so they’re super quick and make a big difference. I’ve also just heard time is the real healer.
