Potty trained child keeps having accidents at nursery

Hello! My almost 3.5 years boy who’s potty trained for 4 months keeps having wet accidents at nursery but at home he doesn’t.. it’s so embarrassing I can’t describe you the feeling I have when the teacher comes to me and says that he had ANOTHER accident today .. it happens almost everyday 🫣🫣🫣🫣🫣 I’m so frustrated…

Don't be frustrated. My son was exactly the same. I believe it's because they are having so much fun playing about with their friends, they are unable to reach the toilet in time. I would say that his nusery would need to encourage him to go toilet or acknowledge the times that he has his accidents and take him to the toilet so that he gets used to it. But not to worry, he will soon grow out of it

Some kids are easily distracted than others. Frequent prompts form the nursery would be ideal. Toilet training is the hardest skill to learn and every skill must be taught and monitored. If you could ask the nursery to prompt more than once, the concept will stick in further...

@Swapna teacher says that she is asking and take him to toilet a few times but he refuses and shortly after he wee on his pants

@Elisha they are encourage him but he refuses.. I really hope he will grow out of this soon🫣

@Ana a reward system perhaps. Mine was like this at one point - bit defiant and holding onto the newfound independence 🙄 I think we started saying - Big girls like clean knickers... are you a baby or a big girl??? At this age, they love the big girl / big boy concept. Worth a try..

Yup going through this right now, she's been toilet trained since 2.5 but is frequently having accidents, we have asked the nursery to keep reminding her and started a rewards chart at home if she has no accidents.

@Ana don't stress he will get there. He will get there in his own time. Once his in tune with his body, the accidents will happen less often As @Swapna suggests, a rewarding system at nusery would definitely help.

Honestly, my little boy has made a few and they don’t change them at his nursery apparently it’s (education not a child care place) I’m currently arguing with them over the safety of changing him and not leaving him in wet clothing so this has backfired on us, I just wanted to let you know that it’s normal to make mistakes a new setting new people, loads of changes give time to settle and it’s only been 4 months :) x

Don't be embarrassed or frustrated! Little ones get stressed. He may not feel comfortable to ask an adult to help with toileting at nursery. It can take a long time for them to settle properly. Only 4 months of potty training, they're likely to have accidents occasionally. The worse thing you can do is be frustrated at him. He'll hey there x
