GD supplement

Hi girls I’m 29 weeks and got GD from my latest tests. I want to start taking anti spike by glucose goddess to help but can’t find any info on whether I should or shouldn’t. Impossible to get the answer from my midwife who keep saying to ask at my next appt but that could be in a few weeks and I need to make some changes now. What are ur thoughts??

Have you got a phone number or email address for your diabetic midwife team? Might be quicker than waiting for your next midwife appointment. Alternatively if you have a number for the community midwife they might be able to advise you in the interim

Have you tried just managing by diet first? You may not need additional things on top of doing that. Personally I wouldn’t feel comfortable putting more things in my body right now on top of the big pregnancy multivitamin. However if just making diet changes isn’t working and they are looking at metformin, I understand wanting to avoid that as I’m so scared i will end up going on that if I’m not able to maintain just by diet. I can’t imagine the diabetes team would ever say take this supplement as it won’t be nhs guidance approved 🤷‍♀️ (I assume)

If you’re worried and want something pregnancy approved I would try inositol supplements. I’m interested to hear if these work though as I was looking at them too! I’m on metformin and insulin for GD and they’re fine though - they only do good things! It’s better than having to restrict diet as obviously it’s more dangerous not to have enough carbs and risk producing ketones than it is to have insulin which is naturally occurring in the body.

Hey! I totally get your frustration with not getting answers quickly. It's tough when you need to make changes now. Since it's related to your health during pregnancy, it might be best to consult with a healthcare provider or a specialist who can give you the right guidance on using the anti-spike by Glucose Goddess. Your health is super important, especially during this time, so getting the right advice is key. Hang in there, and I hope you get the answers you need soon! 💪🤰
