Cleaning pump parts

Is it ok to rinse and sanitize pump parts immediately after use to use again? Trying to save on bottle washing after a couple uses. Please and thank you for any info on cleaning pumping parts

Once your baby is older (like 3 months) you can save yourself some washing by putting your parts in the fridge between uses. You still need to wash them at least once a day, but it makes it easier. If you've got a premie/nicu baby or one with immune problems you would be safer to stick with washing every time.

@Miriam Thank you!! I’ll wait till 3 month mark to put them in the fridge. So much cleaning with 8-9 feedings a day and pumping 7x a day. Insane amount but will keep cleaning every single use

Another suggestion to make life easier for now: get a couple of spare parts. If you have two sets of anything that touches milk you can alternate and wash every other time. (This depends on your pump how easy this would be to do)

For me I just cleaned everything each time because I found my milk to be a bit oily and I didn't like how it felt sitting in the bottles. Lol. I also taught my partner how to clean parts so he could help me in between uses and then I invested in additional parts which also really helped because then I had 2 sets to work with so I didn't have to wash each time.

I put mine in the fridge once she was 2 months old, sometimes after a rinse, sometimes not. I went off my better judgment & sanitized once a day.

I definitely just stuck mine in the fridge to use again and then just wash at the end of the day

@Leslie Thank you! So helpful and will get more parts

@Loni Did you put it in a bag or Tupperware? Or just in the fridge? Thank you!! Wanting to do the same

@Roxy Thank you! Did you put it in Tupperware or in a bag at all? Wanting to know so I can do the same

My lactation consultant said you don’t have to sterilize after each use, just wash with hot water and let it dry or pop it in the fridge for next uses. You can sterilize once a day.

I rinse pump parts after each use and store in fridge. Cold temperatures reduce the risk of bacteria growth. I literally only wash/sanitize once per week. Never had any issues with either of my kids

In a freezer bag

My LC actually advised me against washing before putting in the fridge . This is because breast milk has natural anti bodies so it prevents bacteria better than what a moist bottle would have , unless you also dry it before popping it in

@Roxy oh wow I didn’t think of this! Also, they are reusable. Good to know!

@Priya thank you!!!

Sorry I’m just seeing this. I put the attachments in a gallon ziplock bag but left the top open (so it can breathe) and just stuck it on the shelf in the fridge.
