You can start infant cereal at ANY TIME! Both my girls started around 4 months as well. However, my doctor did not recommended in bottles. I always mixed it in a bowl and spoon feed it to them at the table. (I do this with my babies at work too. I’m an infant childcare provider at a daycare) I always started with an ounce of breast milk and about a tablespoon of infant cereal. Then adjust it for the right consistency. I always shoot for an “applesauce” and honestly if your baby is loving or still not quite satisfied mix up more milk and cereal or you can always add a little bit of puree in with it and test the waters. See what he loves! (But always try a puree a few times before switching to another to watch for allergies) I think any oatmeal or rice cereal is a great option for babies. For my own I used beechnut oatmeal as well as puree.
This is really outdated and dangerous advice, I would find a new doc. Longer sleep for you isn’t worth exposing your child to a choking hazard and more importantly messing up your baby’s digestive system possibly for life.
Definitely can start when you feel comfortable! My baby has always slept through the night as a baby thankfully. So Started by feeding him by spoon and also put in his bottle at 4mo.
Do it but don’t put it in the bottle please.. spoon feed it!
I started giving my youngest baby rice at 3 months old by mixing some of his milk in with the baby rice and spoon feeding him. Never put it in the bottle
This is a choking hazard and there is guarantee that baby will sleep longer stretches. Every baby is different. I’d find a new ped if mine suggested putting oatmeal or anything like that in my baby’s bottles. The gut is not ready to digest food until baby is sitting up unassisted. Giving a baby food too early can cause a lot of gut issues.
