Bored in the same routine!!

My son is 8 almost 9 months and I’m so bored of the same routine everyday. I feel like he’s getting bored too! We go on a walk everyday, sensory class once a week and then just normal play time during the day. It’s the play time that’s getting boring. We sit in his room and play with the same toys everyday. Any activities that I can do with him to mix it up?

There’s a FB page if your on that. It’s called sensory for babies am sure. My LG loves books so even just going to the library for an hour to change things up maybe ? X

- Soft play - Swimming / Splash pool - Park if weather is ok - zoo / farm / aquarium

How’s about doing some things that you enjoy and just bringing baby along for the ride? They don’t need constant entertainment, watching you do chores or go out for a day is interesting for them too

@Sally that’s a great idea. I have taken my LO to the cinema and just bought ear defenders. Keep in mind they aren’t allowed in certain rated movies unless the cinema specifically states. For example there is a cinema that does a baby club that you’re allowed to bring a baby to a 12,15 & 18 rated movie.

Have you had a look at local community centres, libraries and churches for any free/low cost groups? We were feeling the same and I decided we were going to get out more last month. We have a church that offers a stay and play with coffee and cake for £2, our health visitor centre has a free sensory room and a free stay and play and the library offers a free ‘wriggly readers’ session. Our leisure centre also has a soft play where babies under 1 go free. The stay and play sessions at these places are actually some of my favourites, probably more than the paid baby sensory classes.

I find this too. We goto classes most days but find playtime at home a bit boring. Ive stated just getting 1 toy out at a time this week. I used to get loads out but ive found he stays focused longer if I just do 1 at a time, also been using more 'advanced' toys like stacking, ones with things that pop up etc and it's interesting watching him try to figure it out!

I also made a 'drum' yesterday with an old formula pot and he liked banging a spoon on it for 5 mins!

Soft play has been a game changer for our LO since she is so active and crawling / standing all the time! They are literally dotted all over the place and nearly always have a separate area for babies 😊 she also loves swimming and the swings at any park/playground! We have a Family Hub in our area where you can book the sensory room for free for 45mins which is great too. We've not tried it yet, but many libraries do Rhyme Time as well 🎶 And as above, just being out and about is great for sensory and stimulation! We took her for a walk a couple of weeks ago and there was a pond with ducks and swans everywhere - she was quite content watching them and eating her lunch 😂
