I like yams, collards/mustards, mac n cheese, cornbread, and fried fish lol but if I make everything else lmao my kids are only eating the mac n cheese and the fish fry lmao
Rice or I make a puree and put it with anything/use as dip or spread
Ham đ We eat it on New Years Day with ham, cabbage, and cornbread or rolls... put some honey in the peas for taste
@Gwendolyn honey? Are they sweet?
@Asha No Black Eyed Peas are not sweet, and as a kid, I didn't like the taste on their own. My family has always added honey to make it taste better. As an adult, I still prefer it with honey, but I can also eat it without...
@Gwendolyn and what else? How do you season them?
@Gwendolyn thatâs interesting. My family has always put sugar in them just a little bit⊠but I bet honey would do the same thing and healthier!
@Asha We don't season Black Eyes Pea... they boil it in a pot of water like regular beans and will put pieces of raw bacon to cook in it.
Ahhhhhh i see I donât put meat in my peas but I do use liquid smoke or smoked paprika And garlic, onion, some bell peppers, thyme, black pepper, and bouillon Sometimes I do add a lil sugar to my greens though when Iâm making âsweet greensâ sweet kinda like bbq Smoked paprika, tomato, onion, garlic, bouillon, thyme, black pepper, and a little apple cider vinegar instead of hot sauce
@Asha Remember, though, Black Eyed Peas aren't really a pea.. it's a bean. That being said, you don't have to cook it with bacon. Some people just do, there are lots of different ways, and I would look up recipes online.
@Gwendolyn I would still season them tbh lol you donât season beans? Is the flavor of the bacon enough? Then again I donât eat bacon so
@Monét I don't like beans! Lol Black Eyed Peas are the closest I'll get.
@MonĂ©t you can also use ham, but if you donât eat pork at all Iâm not sure lol! But we use bacon or ham in my family too, but we do add some seasonings as well, and onion sometimes! I like the onion myself.
@MonĂ©t I'll be making some with brisket in them next week đ€€
