After care?!

What is everyone doing/using to care for your intimate area after birth??? I feel more nervous for the healing process than actually giving birth! So so scared of infections!

yes I'm the same... iv bought some teatree stuff for bath time and hoping to take regular baths...

I used badedas in bath after my first birth and just a peri bottle when I went to the toilet x

Honestly just water. I think using too many products, even those that claim to have healing properties, can sometimes be irritating and then it's hard to know if it's the wound or the product causing the problem. I've got some of those reusable ice packs for a cooling effect if I'm really swollen but that's about it

I agree with just water and keeping clean. I had a natural delivery with forceps and an episiotomy, I think the more you interfere the more likely you are to risk infection x

The best thing you can do is just plain water and keeping the area as dry as possible. Too much moisture can increase risk of infections

I used arnica cream where I was a bit swollen. Then just poured a jug of water over when going for a wee to help with the stinging. Have peri spritz for bits this time too.

Peri bottle, witch Hazel pads and Epson salt baths :)

Peri bottle and water, i use witch hazel pads for the first week to soothe tear & for haemorrhoids

I'm 4 days postpartum, had stitches in both my pregnancies and just use water. The hospital advised not to use soaps or perfumed products, but that's probably because of the stitches. I literally turn the shower head upside down and wash down there that way, then pat dry with kitchen towel! This side of pregnancy is heaps easier than the end of the pregnancy, for me anyway! Xx

I bought Lansinoh organic post birth spray which many swear by so that is to be seen 😃 Apparently you just spray as often as you want directly on your vulva. Then just planning to continue using epsom bath salts when I have a bath. But heard good things about witch hazel products. For showers I have been using special products for intimate hygiene since my teens. Defo couldn't use regular shower gel or soap and water just isn't enough to proper wash off wee and sweat let alone bloods on period or PP 🫠

@Gabi if you have to have stitches the hospital will advise you to only use water.

@Sam I have a bad ptsd with stitches done BADLY at hospital so I am not taking any advice re that from hospital staff 😬😬 But you have to do what your gut telling you 🙌🏼

@Gabi yeah you have to do what's right for you. I followed their advice with my daughter and had no issues, so will do the same this time round.
