Primary school viewings

Are you taking your little ones to view schools with you or are you not supposed to? I’m currently booking appointments and it suddenly occurred to me that I have no idea if my daughter should or shouldn’t be there. I had assumed I would take her with me so I could see how the school staff interact with her. Is there an unwritten rule either way?

I’m not sure tbh, I’d ask the school. I’ve had to ask as it’s not been clear either. Both were fine with my daughter coming along, but she can only come to 1 as the other is on a preschool day (she only does two days a week).

I took our little one on school visits. One was in the school day, and it was nice to see her face when she saw what the school looked like and interacting with the teachers. The other one was at the end of the school day, but it was nice for her to see the environment. X When I contacted them to say we would be attended, I signed with mine, hubby's, and little ones' names, so they knew 3 were coming.

I chose not to, just so I could focus on the tour and asking questions not on looking after my children. I find it really hard to focus on what people are saying if I’m looking after my kids

I took my daughter to the first one, it went well, the head teacher spoke on the tour, and she loved the school. The second one I didn't take her to, the head teacher did a 30ish minute presentation before the tour, I don't think my daughter would have sat through that. At both there was a mix of parents with kids and parents without kids, though more without. For me it's more important to go while the school is open, during the school day, to see how the teachers and kids interact and work.

1 we took him too, and they had toys layed out for the kids to play with and they played and interacted with them which was nice. HOWEVER, his dad stayed with him while he played while I had the tour and they told me about the school which I had to relay to my partner. The one we didn’t take him too was just a tour and a chat (so glad we didn’t take him, dad could also listen and ask questions) but they do have a play sessions especially to bring the children too to get a feel for the school in a couple weeks - might be worth checking beforehand if you can to see what the school recommends. I definitely think I want our son to see the school before we decide, because then we can talk about which one he’s going to and get him excited/prepared for next year x
