Let him feed himself! Some babies just prefer it from the beginning. It really advances their eating skills as well, and reduces risk of choking.
I’m ngl I just pushed the spoon in and then once he realised what was happening he starting opening up after a little while. It took about 10 days for him to really know what was going on.
He might not be ready for solids yet as one of the signs was an interest in food and putting everything in their mouth. Try eating foods infront of him and offering each time (don’t force as he will take it when ready and this could possibly cause a food aversion). Even exaggerated eating motion can make them interested and start reaching out for your food, if your eating something suitable for them can start by giving a taste. Also as mentioned above some babies like to self feed, mine hated being spoon fed at the start so we gave steamed fruit/veg in sticks and she was eating it fine on her own (u can use the BLW meals app to see how to serve different foods in baby safe way)
Yes we did, we took a step back and tried again in a week and so on, and took it at her pace. We didn’t find she was very interested/ wanting to consume solids until about 9 months! But now 14mo and a decent eater. Just don’t fret. Milk is still most important. He’ll get the courage to try in his own time x
