FTM - When to tell people?

Heya everyone! FTM here - Got a phone call today for my booking appointment which will be in 2 weeks time. I’ve only told my partner so far (in which I just walked into the living room and broke down in tears😂🙈) When are/did everyone tell their parents/closest people? Or did you not say anything until 12 weeks? Also, when did you tell work? I’m off the week of the appointment meant so I was thinking of telling parents then and then my work the week after? It’s just a lot so any help would be great! Xxx

Didn’t say anything 12 week scan . Xx

Congrats mama! That’s so so exciting! We told our parents at 6 weeks so a couple of weeks after finding out. Then siblings and close friends at 12weeks. Work at 20 weeks, and didn’t tell anyone else lol just rocked up with a baby xx

I was going to wait til 12 weeks but ended up having tell parents and my boss as I ended up in hospital and multiple hospital appointments due to issues.

@Luba I love the fact you just turned up with a baby suddenly!😂 xx

Congratulations 🎊 we have told our parents, siblings and close friends as soon as we found out (The rule was the people who we want to talk with in case something goes wrong). At work I am planning to not tell until January, I work from home so it makes it easier to hide 😅

We told our bosses the day after we found out so it would be easier for us appointment wise and also we’re quite friendly with our bosses. Not planning to tell close family / friends until 12 week scan then will announce on socials maybe a bit later on!

@Claudia same as me. i told immediate people, as if something did go wrong i didn’t want to go through it privately id rather be able to speak about it

I told my parents and best friends and my partners told his parents but that’s it so far. We’ve had a loss before and it’s nice to have some support if the worst does happen xx

Last time I only told my mam and partner but then miscarried at 10 weeks this time I’ve told my mam partner and close friends from 3 weeks (very very early) because I want a support system around me if anything goes wrong again. It was very lonely last time x

Work know for health and safety will tell family around 16-17 weeks x

I’ve always told people early because I’m a terrible secret keeper but after having a loss just before the 12 week mark we’re keeping it quiet this time around (although my 3 year old didn’t get that memo and has already screamed at various people that there’s a baby in Mummy’s tummy 🫣😂). There’s no right or wrong answer, sometimes I’d just tell people when I needed a boost because the first trimester is rough haha x
