Potty training

Started my 6 month old potty training, we are on day 3 and she’s used the potty 4 times today! My mum potty trained my brother and I from 6 months and by 12 months we were out of nappies completely. My reason for starting young is nappies are expensive and potty training now means less or no nappies which equals savings! Also from what I’ve read online/speaking to other parents they’ve found it easier to teach this skill younger rather than waiting from 12 months plus. If you’ve been successful potty training your children (any age) I’d love to hear your tips and tricks! Thank you x

Awesome job mom!! 🥰🥰

I want to do this too! My parents started potty training me when I was sitting up unassisted. I’m happy to hear you are having a positive experience!

No judgement I'd just love to know how you get your baby to go on the potty as they obviously can't walk to the potty or say they need to go I potty trained my son and by 2.5years he was dry day and night at that age he understood alot more and knew when he needed to go so could tell me which was easier for me My daughter is 10 months walking and I honestly couldn't think of the struggle to potty train her now 🤣

@Emma-louise because they can’t walk at 6 months, I carry her to the potty and I sit her on it.. Most research studies suggest no longer than 5 mins on a potty at a time, so this is what we’ve been doing and it seems to be working so far! We do it first thing in the morning when she wakes up, then she’ll go again usually about 10-20 mins after feed!s We have set an alarm every hour also to take her out of a nappy get some air and then put her on the potty (she’s gone after doing this but mostly after her bladder is full after feeds). That’s so good that you got him potty trained by 2.5 years good job! I’m sure you’ll get there with your daughter too! I guess patience and perseverance is key! I’ve been told mixed experiences some parents have said starting young so they don’t know any different, whereas some like yourself said as they gain more communication skills it’s easier, and some have said the older they get the harder it is as they don’t want to do it.

@Mya thank you!

@Yasmim good luck!!

Join some Elimination Communication groups on Fb coz that’s essentially what you are doing - EC. I paired EC w cloth diapers so I saved a shit ton of money on not buying diapers (or wipes) for the whole journey he was in diapers. In Asia toddlers are fully trained by 18m

@Kellie thank you so much!
