How much does baby grow after reaching term?

Hi guys, I'm 37 weeks on Thursday and found out on Monday that my baby is 6.5lb and in the 50th percentile. This kinda worried me because 6.5 sounds fairly big considering he still has potentially four weeks to go, and I've been told they can gain up to 1lb a week! Should I be preparing for a potentially 10/11lb baby?

Baby should continue on 50th centile, which is a perfect size for you 😊

At 36 weeks I was told she was 6lb 11 and she would be around 9lb at birth. I had her at 36+5 and she was exactly 6lb 11. Your baby won’t suddenly jump percentiles so don’t stress too much. Sounds like baby will be perfectly healthy

Thank you !! That is really reassuring 😁😁

Well, my weight predictions were correct 😄. They estimated 8lb 13 at 39+6, she came 1 week later at 9lb 9oz!

@Rebecca was she still able to wear newborn clothes or did you go for another size? Honestly my biggest concern is all my cute newborn clothes going to waste 😅😅

I think half a lb a week roughly is more likely, so maybe around 8lb or so? I wouldn’t be expecting a super huge baby if she’s measuring on the 50th centile at this late gestation :)

@Cassie nope no newborn, all 0-3 😅. But she's very long! It's the length I find with clothes, not the weight

@Rebecca the length is a nightmare isn’t it? My girl is 10 weeks and all the 0-3 stuff is starting to get tight purely because of her length! They are super baggy on her otherwise 😂
