Struggling..

I have 4 bonus kids who range from 17,13,9 and 7. I've been in their loces for 4 years and the 13 year old and I struggle to get along/connect. *I've treis to do things in the past but he wouldn't have much to do with me then* Any ideas on some things I could do with him to connect/get a better relationship with him? TIA!!

I was in that same boat with my now 19-year-old SS. Honestly, the best thing I did was just be there for him, and he came to me when he was ready. I would ask him about his day and interests, and if he answered with just okay, I accepted it, and then eventually he started to tell me more!

@Courtney Haire it is! I've been in my kids life since he was 7 and trust me the teenage years were the hardest to get through. I had to take a step back and not force things! It gets better I promise ❤️

I was in the same boat with my step kids also, 13 & 15 now. I did the same thing, just stepped back and stopped trying to force a connection. As soon as I let it all go, the kids started reaching out and our relationship has blossomed into something way more meaningful. My 15 year old son is still all about friends and video games. But he does open up to me when him and dad go through things and I can always steer him in a better direction usually & he listens to it lol. I wouldn’t stress over it! They see everything you do, trust me. ♥️

Good thing is… it really isn’t forever. The kids grow up & start their own families. It’s just a season, it’ll get easier! Much love ❤️
