Problem with Giving Solid Food

Hi mamas, We started solids two weeks ago and my son doesn’t like to hold the food with his hand. If I leave it in front of him, he just plays with the plate. If I put it in his hand he holds it for a few seconds and then throws it or drops it. He eats but actual food and puree when I feed him but he doesn’t want to do the work. Any advice would be appreciated.

Just feed him then- he’s not ready to hold food- it’s ok- every baby’s different

My doctor told me that all the time is for them experience for them to touch and taste, but just because they’re not interested in eating it doesn’t mean that they won’t eat it later on you. Just gotta give your baby time like my baby is seven month old and she’s still not interested in eating period foods but she rather eat, actual food but then she still not really interested in that it varies baby to baby.

I started giving smaller portions so it was less wasted then lots of modelling while eating my meal. We had her at the table in her high chair for about 2 weeks before we started her on solids so she'd see us eat. If baby doesn't eat much its not the end of the world as milk is still number 1. If you want to hand/spoon feed baby that's fine but if you want to do blw then I'd try to refrain from doing that as much as possible as he'll take longer to relearn eating. Does he show interest when you eat? Like lunging for the food in your hand if you're holding him and eating? If not he may not quite be ready and that's okay, just keep offering small portions, model and follow his lead.
