toys

Does anyone elses child not have any interest in toys? My boy is 3 and he just will not play with any toys! I get them all out I try and sit with him show him what to do. He runs off or just sits on the sofa day dreaming. He is obsessed with his tablet and watches things on there or plays games. But when he doesn’t have it, he wont go near any toys. I feel like i’m failing, just wondering if i am alone in this or if anyone else has the same issue?

My boy will get his cars out and line them up or stack his cups but he doesn’t role play or play with them as such. His birthday is coming up so I’m hoping some new toys will stimulate him a bit 🥲

@Mama A He used to do all the lining up but now he doesn’t even do that. He was 3 end of August so i brought so many different toys and hes not touched any of them 😭

Have you tried things that aren't toys? Mine used to roll/spin sellotape around the floor. Balloons are another good one, it's taken a while for my boy to get used to them popping but he loves them now

Try toy strollers he can push or trolleys with baby dolls etc. Reduce the time on the tablet as he should be actively playing! My boy is running/jumping on the bed/sofa, wants to get on my back for a horsey ride and I neigh and get upright etc. we play nursery rhymes on alexa in the background (free version) and my husband makes a pile of pillows on the floor mattress and my son runs and collides into the pillows, we throw pillows at him whilst he runs towards the mattress, I move my scarf up and down or shimmy shimmy it side to side and my son runs into the scarf and falls on the mattress or rolls on the mattress. I use a deep voice to say shimmy shimmy and my son loves that and finds it funny and laughs. When he runs away from tasks like going to the toilet. I chase him and say ‘come back’ in an annoying and playful voice and he giggles and laughs and runs aways 🤦🏻‍♀️ 😂

Tickling is the best and easy way to bond with your child- put you nose in his armpit and wiggle it, press your nose on different places on his stomach, press you nose on the sides of his body above his hip, and put your nose in his neck. All of the above will make him laugh a lot but give him breaks in between tickling.

buy 2 strollers as you will need to get involved and play with your son!

@Sadia Yeah I do all the tickling and chasing him. We jump together and he loves that. But none of those things seem to keep him going very long he gets bored after a few mins. He wont go near toy strollers etc or anything that seems role play. Hes very different to my daughter who played all day with different things
