Milk intake

How much milk is everyone’s 12 month old having to drink in the day now? We are mid transition from formula to cows milk (just using up the last of the formula). My little girl has never been a massive eater in terms of solids, still gags a lot and tends to spit out any chunks etc so doesn’t actually swallow a lot of solid food when she eats (but is very slowly getting better). Up until a couple of weeks ago she was still having 6oz formula every 4 hours but I was advised to start reducing this once she turns 1 as food should now become her main source of nutrition. I have been reducing it and we are now down to 3 x 6oz bottles a day (one morning, one around 1st nap time and then one before bed) as well as 3 meals (just to reiterate that she doesn’t eat a lot of the meal) and snacks. Should I cut the milk down any more or is 3 bottles a day ok? She does also still wake for milk in the night and will usually have a 4-6oz bottle during the night too. I’m finding it hard to find a balance between not giving so much milk that she’s not interested in food and wanting to still give milk to keep her full because she doesn’t eat much 🥴

I don't think that they need to drink a lot of cows milk to be quite fair. As long as your baby is getting plenty dairy (yoghurts, cheese, even milk in cereal & eating plenty leafy greens) then water is their main drink from 1 year old.

I would say offer food first where possible but once she’s refused it you can offer milk so she can fill up. Some babies just take longer to get into solids than others. My baby is EBF and only just coming around to ‘proper’ solid meals. She still does 3 x ‘full feeds’ per day plus 2-4 comfort feeds at night

Our boy only has two day bottles now he goes six hours apart average is bottle at 06:30am then 1pm then bedtime bottle
