Midwife appointments

I’m 10 weeks pregnant and I still haven’t spoken to / met my midwife yet. Our booking appointment was so awkward because it was someone we knew, I think she felt super awkward and just rushed through it, she definitely missed out a lot. Then our dating scan was rushed because the lady was late from her meeting and even forgot to give us our photos! Just feels like we haven’t had the best of luck yet with the NHS, our private scan was amazing!

You can ask to change midwife / hospital if you don’t feel comfortable :) x

@Dee where I haven’t had a midwife contact us, I wouldn’t even know who to speak to

I was given a folder at my booking appointments and it contained my midwife name and phone number plus contact details for the midwife liaison team. Maybe try the liaison team to find out who your midwife is. the folder also told me at how many weeks I will be seen by the midwife

If you have the contact number for the midwife clinic you can call them and just ask them what to expect next and when you will be appointed your midwife x

I was the same. Was really excited to meet my midwife at my booking appointment and thought I’d be able to get some advice/talk about how I’d been feeling but instead it was another midwife covering and it was all very very rushed and I didn’t even get to take any paperwork away as she wasn’t able to complete it all within 90 minutes. I came away even more confused than when I went in. My midwife did call me a couple of weeks later to check id actually had my appointment. She seemed super nice but no idea when I will meet her! Hopefully at my 16 week scan. Is there a number on any of your letters? You could try calling to find out how you contact your midwife or speak with your GP I’m hoping it all gets better the further along we are as I have no idea what I’m doing!

Was your booking appointment not with your midwife?

Random question but around what week is it usual get a NHS booking appointment?
