Midwife

Hi everyone! This is my first pregnancy so I have no idea what I need to do. Do I just call my doctors and ask to be referred to the midwife? Or is there another way of doing this? Thank you 🥰

Depending on your area most GP’s will tell you to put a self referral into your midwife, you would just need to find your NHS trusts website x

Good morning. I thought I was meant to go through the GP but they said I needed to do a self-referral with my local hospital. I did that and I’ve got an appointment for Sunday! It may be different depending on the area but I’d still give your GP a call to double check☺️

My first time too 🥰 I called my GP and they advised me to call my local early pregnancy unit they gave the number I called but they didn’t answer, they did have an email address to send my details to! I sent that on Friday and I am still waiting to hear from them this week! I would say ring you GP and they will be best to advise as every area may be different xx

With my first two pregnancies I had to call my GP to make a booking appointment with the midwife, this time I found the self referral online so did that 😊

I called my local midwife department and their auto response on the call said to hang up and do a self-referral form and gave me the website directly for their department. It was so much easier than googling it/trying to find it myself!

Thank you everyone!
