Milk from bottles / cups - teeth question

Finally my 22mo is accepting milk from a straw cup (tum tum) but is this actually progress from a bottle, as it’s still a rubber thing that sits behind the teeth like a bottle teat would?? So is it any better or not? I know the main goal is a cup but we’re a way off that over here 😅 so just trying to save his teeth as far as I can. He’s generally a good brusher.

I don’t know the answer, just came to say we are stuck on bottles over here 🤦‍♀️ I think the bottle they worry about it moving the teeth but I have no clue about the straw cup. According to the dentist everything is bad for your teeth though

I mean, my friend was still giving her three year old a bottle of milk at night time so y’know 🤷🏻‍♀️ I only tried the straw cup out of curiosity and he’s taken to it… actual cup? Forget it 😂

Same on the cup front 😂😂 like it’s poison

I think it's also to do with how far back the teat goes in the mouth and how it obstructs the mouth from being cleared via saliva, which can contribute to decay. Not just positioning. We use tum tum straw cup and he has started liking an open cup more but drinks a lot less with those x
