Im lying in my resume 😣😬 please be nice

I know so many people who have lied on their resumes. I personally wouldn't do it, tho

I worked with someone who did this, safe to say it showed pretty early on and she didn't last long in the job

Lots of people do this in Los Angeles. It’s pretty typical to “fake it til you make it” but that means you better learn that shit quick. Aka YouTube university! It only works with people who are quick learners and highly motivated. i don't recommend it but in this inflated piece of garbage market you gotta survive.

Companies know people lie. Lying easily about something does not mean you could easily do that job. If you can't do the job what is the point? If you cna do the job, find ways to prove it. It is better to focus on learning some of the skills you need or that get you in the door.

What will you do if they ask for employer references? From the employer you never worked for… If you’re having to add stuff to your CV that you haven’t actually done in order to get a job, maybe you’re applying for the wrong jobs?

@Ella I mean, I don’t know anyone personally that has done this- inflating the role or responsibility you held to make it sound better, sure, but making up an entire job, no… so my ‘usually’ is people not putting down fake jobs at all!! I would hope though if you’re going to make up a whole job you didn’t do that you’d consider doing something ‘smart’ like you say and picking a company that can no longer be contacted!

I know a few who have done this and are doing really well in the jobs. I know some who have lied, haven't been able to do the work and have been fired or demoted. If you can actually back up you lie and do the job🤷🏾‍♀️😉

@Chloe I don't know a ton of people who have done it, but I know people who have put down companies that have shut down, that it's plausible they could have worked there, to fill gaps in their resume rather than admit they were unemployed for a period of time. Obviously a resume would look very suspicious if it was nothing but dead companies 😂

Better to pad out the experience you do have, like make it sound better/more in depth than it actually was, rather than be found out in a complete lie. Definitely feel for you though, it’s tough out there!! Xx

I’ve lied on every resume and every job interview. I now have a job I love, that I’m great at, I’ve had two promotions and two pay rises in one year but I lied to get here. I really don’t care tbh. No guilt.

@Jess good for you! It's a tough world out there so if you know you can do it I'm all for fibbing to secure the job over someone else

Just say you signed an NDA and put company name redacted and list the skills/duties you did at that "job"

Idk I don’t see the point in lying ? If they truly see potential in you they will see it regardless.

That's how you get to places in this country, lying. If you be honest you don't go anywhere
