When did y'all start giving your baby food?

Month my mom started giving me cereal and fruit when I was 4 months old. I think my doctor said wait until 6 months to introduce food or maybe I read that online. I would love to start giving her food at 4 months following a baby food book that I have.

I would wait until closer to 6 months, baby has to be showing all the signs of readiness

I would wait until 6. You can at 4 but only if they’re really ready for it

They are not ready for food until they are 6 months old

Mom of three here. With my first one I waited 6 months, and I tried one veggie or fruit for 3 days in a row to see for any food allergies. With the second and third, I started 4 months old and I mixed veggies and fruits :) But with three of them I started with eggs, peanut butter and some other nuts to test for allergies. There I discovered my third is allergic to some nuts.

I did purées at 4 months and solids at 6 months.

Thanks everyone. I will actually be doing a food allergy first so I know what she's allergic to beforehand. Since she's allergic to my breast milk I know she has an allergy I just don't know what it is.

Both of mine I waited well past 6 months. That was due to breastfeeding. If I wasn't I would have just waigrd til 6mo.

@Magdalena is she allergic to anything you eat or is it just your milk she is allergic to?

6 months

6 months

6 months, the guidance hasn’t been to wean at 4 months for over 20 years now.

6 months but my baby is 7 months now and still not interested in food

I did purees at 4 months then food at 6 months because they were showing all the signs

I started giving my baby food as teethers when she was 4m old, she didn’t have teeth yet. Too big and too tough to choke on, like 1/2 apples (pears, peaches), mango pits, bell peppers, corn on the cob. It was also supervised and I was CPR and First Aid certified. She LOVED it and would get really excited. The transition to food was really natural after that. I recommend following Baby Lead Weaning, Boob to Food, Feeding Littles on Social Media, they have some great tips and tricks.

Helpful tip my friend shared with me when we started our food journey: you can put food on their skin before feeding it to them to see if they react. 1 food per day. Documenting it too- what it was and when it was put on skin.

My daughter as just turned 7 months the other day and I started her on just a rusk with her baby milk when she was 5 months old for breakfast then once she turned 6 months started properly giving her breakfast and dinner and now she’s 7 months she will have breakfast/dinner/pudding and snacks x

@Magdalena have you tried doing an elimination diet? It might be dairy. I think my son has CMPA because he’s great once I cut dairy out but if I have any accidentally, he reacts badly.

I did try that and it's not dairy @Amelia
