LO going to the toilet constantly

Hello. For the past 10 days my son (5yo) has been going to the toilet constantly. Obviously he does just drops but he says he feels the need to go. I don't think it is an infection as he doesn't go at night and it doesn't hurt. I will probably call the GP tomorrow but I was just wondering if it ever happened to anyone else?

This happened to my now 5 year old a few months ago. It became a lot worse, came back clear for infection. The drs put us on a faecal disimpaction regime to rule out constipation- we didn't think he was constipated but it did work!!! Is he pooing normally? I think the dr said that constipation is the most common cause of bladder issues in kids. Hope you get to the bottom of it!!

Hi, My son (also 5 years old) had this happen to him earlier this year. It was heart breaking watching him because he didn’t have a water infection. We ended up taking him to hospital because he got so upset with it and we were concerned they ran all tests and nothing was found. After about 3 weeks it just stopped. He can be quite anxious and we have now put it down to some sort of anxiety as he had not long started school so was going through a lot of life changes. Sorry not much help, I would recommend going to your GP as they can refer you. We were referred but our council weren’t much help and just passed it onto the school. If it happens again though we will likely go private for additional help. Best advice I can probably give is rule out is go to a GP to rule out a water infection and then go from there x

ERIC charity is a really good resource, and they have a helpline you can call to discuss with someone too, they were really good with us!

My son has had a few frequent water infections Sometimes it's needing to go constantly, sometimes blood and sometimes really painful I would suggest getting drs to do a urine sample just incase Just incase anyone wonders we are in the process of working out why he has this issue and has had a ultrasound to check his kidneys and possibly needing circumcision as his willy also balloons and is tight

Thanks everyone! It's helpful to hear other stories. I forgot to mention his little brother was born just 3 months ago, this is why I wonder if it could be something like anxiety or emotional. I will definitely call the GP tho just to be on the safe side

@Kelly at the weekend he had some troubles pooing, meaning he kept saying he needed to go even if he was doing it a little bit. But then it was limited on Saturday and maybe a little bit on Sunday. I will mention this to the doctor. Thanks

We had this with one of our little ones and I ended up putting it down to anxiety

My son had the same problem. He went to the toilet non stop. We did so many test . He did have a uti but that was sorted and he still went to toilet constantly. We even got him tested for type 1 diabetes which was negative too. We thought it may be a mental thing like anxiety. And then we went on holiday one day and came back and it all stopped. I have no idea why it stopped! So it may be a phase or this thing called Pollakiuria.
