Clary Sage

Does anyone have any personal experience with clary sage essential oil in pregnancy? Google makes it sound really scary, I've been burning it on my electric diffuser since last night and I'd like to start putting some on my tummy. I'm being induced at 39 weeks on Thursday.

I’ve been using it the past 4 days in the bath and on my pressure points but nothing :( x

I’ve been diffusing generous amounts of clary sage throughout the night for the last two weeks! It’s a nice smell 🤣 and the sound of diffuser is soothing. That’s about it!!!

I’ve been mixing it with an oil and using it as a massage oil, and in our diffuser, but it’s not had any effect yet sadly 😂

@Beena hahaha, omg google makes it sound as though the moment you come into contact with it you'll go into labour. I've been petrified to use it too early.

Used it with moisturiser and in a little pot in the shower and on a tissue next to my bed and he's still in there 🤣

I had a blend of Clary sage, frankincense and orange made by an aromatherapist, I was a bit scared to use it to start with as I read how strong it can be, but I've been spraying it on a tissue and smelling it the last few days and it's not had any effect .... Might have made me feel a little woozy tho lol! I was told to not use for more than half an hour at a time tho or it can be too much x

I thought this too!😂 my friend gave birth in Italy and was given it during labour, and she said it made her contractions triple in intensity INSTANTLY!!! 😂

@Chloe you reminded me to use some this evening, sat smelling it now! Hope it works now I've had a sweep

It is definitely safe. I purchased an antenatal and baby course from NHS midwife who got her own separate business aside from her midwifery job at hospital and she says it in one of the videos that clary sage is OK to use in a bath Xx

I put a tiny bit in my bath at 40+3 with my first, mild contractions started in the night and progressed the following day and she was born 40+5. I had HORRIFIC back labour 🙃 the two may or may not have been connected but due to my personal experience I'm not going anywhere near the stuff with this pregnancy, I'm about to turn 40 weeks x
