Effacement but no dilation?

I had my weekly appointment with the midwives today. I am 36wks +5 and due on October 31st. She did an internal exam and said that I am 50% effaced but still closed and 0 dilation. I was 0% just last week. She said that's normal for a 1st pregnancy, but this is my 2nd (albeit a 15yr age gap). Has anyone else been effaced but not dilated at all? How long did it take to see any dilation? How soon after starting to efface did you go into labour? Just curious if I should start keeping an eye out for more symptoms, or just go about my routines as usual until my next appointment and check. I would love it if she came just a bit before her due date. We will be considered full term this Thursday, and I'm so ready to meet her.

Wouldn’t count on anything happening anytime soon. Just continue your normal routine. You can be fully effaced with no dilation. The baby will come when she or he is ready.

It can be common in second and even third pregnancy as well. Plus every pregnancy is different. I had my oldest at 42 weeks and my second at 36 weeks. Now I’m 36 weeks and 5 days with nothing going on.

We have the same due date. I wonder who will delivery first 😂 but I’m high risk so I’ll have my daughter October 24th unless she comes anytime soon.

I’m 36+4, 70% effaced with like no dilation (half cm), it just explains all extra pressure and pain when walking

@Anastasiya OMG, yes, the pressure! And the lightning crotch multiple times a day! The midwife said my baby girl's head is very low and that's helping the effacement, but it sure is uncomfortable 😖 everytime she starts moving around I feel like I'm being jabbed right in the vagina with an electric probe
