Weaning help!

I'm starting weaning my LO soon once they hit 6 months. I'm confused. Do you offer them food (like puree/porridge) at every meal time? And then offer a bottle straight after?

I believe it’s bottle first & some invites to try a little while after their bottle. “Food is fun til 1” - the main source is their milk still

@Hayley oooo this is interesting as I've heard the exact opposite but thank you so much! Defo makes sense!

To start off, you trial puree/baby led around 30-60 mins after their last milk feed so they're not super hungry. There are different approaches how you start, for example, a new food every day for variety or start with one meal a day. Then move to two meals and build up. We followed Ella's book so whilst 5 months+, we did purees of different foods and from 6 months, we will give baby led weaning a go too. But we are still on one meal a day. When you're doing a meal, then you wouldn't give straight after a feed as you want some appetite

@Suchi amazing thank you!! I've just ordered the Ella's kitchen pack so that will help too! So basically puree to start an hour or so after milk? Then introduce say a meal at lunch, but this is before or after a bottle?

Personally I give baby a few teaspoons of puree first then bottle of milk after once a day

I keep the bottle times the same 3hly then do breakfast half hour after morning bottle& dinner 30m after evening bottle, then last bottle in given in bed so nothing changes just adding in the food and they will naturally choose to drink as much or little as you progress x

Meal before bottle
